This is a lovely idea! Would it be possible to try to get this money directly into the hands of people who need it (i.e., by giving to GoFundMes for people with cancer struggling to pay medical bills, or finding mutual aid organizations that specialize in providing support to people with high medical costs)?

I have always so enjoyed reading you, whether on TIE, your Twitter feed, or here. I really appreciate “I have serious news.” They humanity, honesty, and perspective you bring has meant a lot to me. All that to say, I’d be happy to subscribe, as a token of my appreciation for you, to support whichever charity you feel best deserves it.

I highly recommend the charity Project Medishare for Haiti, and have personally donated to them for several years. They started providing prenatal and birthing care to poor Haitians, and have since expanded to general medical care and nutritional support for children. Administrative and fund-raising costs are minimal, nearly all of every donation goes to disparately needed services. As Haiti falls into chaos, organizations like this are incredibly important. www.projectmedishare.org

I like this idea and admire you for suggesting it. I would be a paid subscriber if funds were directed to Doctors Without Borders or a cancer support charity of your choice. Thanks!

Was thinking this very thing for my Substack with all proceeds to charity and all posts always and forever free. Will watch for your lead to see what it looks like in practice.
