I’m thinking of turning on paid subscriptions. Why? Because a reader said he would pay $80 a year for something he already gets for free. If I did this,
People with free subscriptions would still get all posts.
I would donate what I earn from this to a charity. Substack would get 10% of your subscription, and the remaining 90% would be donated.

This is a lovely idea! Would it be possible to try to get this money directly into the hands of people who need it (i.e., by giving to GoFundMes for people with cancer struggling to pay medical bills, or finding mutual aid organizations that specialize in providing support to people with high medical costs)?
